Hi Vicki, you can replace any oils you do not have with another but it will change the end product, which of course is perfectly fine too. If you are making the serum then you can just replace it with more rice bran or jojoba. Aromantic has a great book just about vegetable oils which may be very useful as a reference for you.

Hi Karen. I bought your brilliant book a few weeks ago and LOVE it. Just one query: I live in Athens, Greece and can’t find some of the ingredients. Is it okay to substitute or leave a carrier oil out if recipe already includes other oils? Are there suitable substitutes for various oils? Can you suggest one specifically for kiwi oil so I can make recipe now? Guess I will have to look into ordering supplies from UK sites suggested in your book.

Hi Karen,
I really enjoyed the Luxury Beauty Products class at the make Lounge and bought your book which I love.
I’m a bit confused as to which preservatives to use, I want to make the wake up wash but notice I cannot use the same preservative as for other products, e.g. the Frankincense body lotion and jojoba and aloe vera moisturiser. Can you recommend please?

Hi Karen

I have just bought the book and love it. It is beautifully presented and the receipes are simple and lovely. It was perfect timing because I wanted to make an eye gel and had bought the ingredients but was not sure where to start. I used a different gum and added some goodies to it, but it was so easy to make. It has given me lots of ideas and jumping off points – especially for perfume making.
