Making a homemade body butter can be one of the most natural moisturizers you can possibly use, you know exactly what is in it, and it is by far a healthier alternative.
Today, I’m going to show you how to make homemade body butter. For this, you’re going to need 15 grams of shea butter, 15 grams of coconut oil, and 15 grams of cocoa butter. You’ll also need 5 ml apricot kernel or almond oil which is about a teaspoon, and a 50 gram jar, and also 10 drops of essential oil, I’m going to be using mandarin for this.
We’re also going to be melting our butters over a pan of hot water which I’ve got on the stove here. Step one, we’re going to add all of our butters to either a glass jar or a bowl, and we’re going to set those over the heat in the pan of hot water to melt. This is probably going to take about 10 or 15 minutes depending on how hot your water is, so we’re going to leave that to melt completely until it’s liquid.
Now, all of the butters are melted, and we’re going to add 5 ml of apricot kernel oil which is about a teaspoon. We’re going to stir that into the mix, we’re going to add our essential oils, so for this, I’m using mandarin, and we’re going to add 10 drops. Now, I’m going to just put this into the fridge and leave it to set.
So, now the body butter is set, I’ve just taken it out of the fridge and it’s ready to use, you need a very, very small amount of this body butter, because it’s very rich. To use, just simply massage into the skin, and this is great to use after a bath or a shower, and especially if you’ve got any dry skin, such as elbows, knees, and you can even use it on your hands.
